Sarah Losh Heritage Centre

In 2014, a Heritage Lottery Fund Grant allowed a small Chapel of Rest in Wreay, Cumbria to be transformed into the Sarah Losh Heritage Centre. Vertigo created a multi-use space. It is a visitor centre telling the fascinating story of Wreay, St Mary’s and the Losh family. But it is also a meeting room for local groups, a classroom and a studio for art.

The graphic displays are designed to be easily removed and are balanced to fit onto the existing stone plinths along the walls. Two beautiful oak benches were created, decorated with iconic symbols in the Chapel. Each bench ‘contained’ two further benches that can be used when extra capacity is needed. We also fitted a discreet audio system in the plinth of the bust of Sarah Losh, giving the visitors an insight into her life.
