The trusties of the Ravenstone Hospital asked us to tell the story of the Almshouses there, in the form of a book. Over 70 pages, it explores the waves of change that swept over rural communities in the nineteenth and twentieth centuries, through the lives of some of the individuals who lived there. During the research phase of the award-winning project, details came to light of Ann Ayre Hely, a nurse who served in the Crimean War and in September 2018, a green plaque was installed at the Almshouse where she spent her final years.
